In the competitive world of shopping malls and family entertainment centers, traditional “static” play areas are no longer enough to drive foot traffic flow improvement. Today’s families are looking for Edutainment – experiences that combine education, entertainment, and technology.

The question for venue owners is: How do you upgrade a standard space to meet these new expectations?
Let’s look at how the children’s play center was redesigned with our recent project: The Interactive Kids Park in Dubai.
The Background: The Need for “Retail-tainment”
Located in The Mall, Dubai, the goal was to create a smart playground system distinct from the usual slides and ball pits found in every shopping center. The retail landscape is shifting; malls are becoming destination hubs where experience comes first.
The venue needed an attraction that would:
- Marketing effect to attract families
- Offer more than just physical play – it needed to spark creativity and interactive projection games.
- Keep families on the premises longer (increasing dwell time).
The Challenge: Creating a Immersive expierence
The client required a turnkey solution for indoor playground renovation – meaning they needed a partner to handle everything from the initial concept and design to software programming, installation, and supervision.
The specific challenge was to build a place according to child safety standards, inspiring an environment where children aged 3-9 could transition from passive observers to active creators. The space had to be scalable, safe for high traffic, and engaging enough to encourage repeat visits.
The Solution: A Multimedia Interactive Kids Park
Lumotion Studio developed a fully Immersive kids park equipped with motion tracking and gamified learning systems. We moved beyond simple screens to create an environment that reacts to the children.
As a full-cycle partner, Lumotion managed the entire engineering process, ensuring the installation was seamless and the hardware was durable enough for a public space.

Key Technologies Implemented:
- Interactive Drawing Tables (The Aquarium Zone): A standout feature where creativity comes to life. Children design their own sea creatures on tablets or paper. Once scanned, these drawings instantly animate on a massive projection wall, swimming and interacting dynamically with the digital environment.
- Motion-Sensitive Gameplay: We installed sensory play zones that track movement, allowing kids to control the game by running, jumping, and waving. This promotes physical activity within a digital play experience.
- Gamified Learning Zones: The content isn’t just fun; it’s educational. We used 2D/3D animation and interactive storytelling to teach collaboration and problem-solving skills.
The Result: A New Benchmark for Indoor Parks
The Interactive Kids Park in Dubai has set a new standard for indoor edutainment in the region.
The transformation delivered measurable results:
- Increased Dwell Time: While children are engaged in the immersive game room, parents have more time to relax or shop, directly benefiting the mall ecosystem.
- Active Family Engagement: The “Draw Alive” feature and motion games often prompt parents to join in, turning a kids’ activity into a family memory.
- High Replay Value: Because the content is digital and interactive, the experience changes, giving children a reason to come back.
According to The Dubai project, we can make a conclusion that rebranding an indoor playground or park isn’t about buying more plastic equipment. It’s about integrating technology that fosters imagination. By combining projection mapping with active play, we created a space that delights children and delivers value to decision-makers.
